Dueling Op Eds for Phoenix Tobacco Flavor Ban

Phoenix City Councilman Michael Nowakowski published a second opinion piece arguing for his plans to introduce an ordinance to ban the sale of flavored tobacco products throughout the city.

Phoenix Business Journal also published an industry perspective by National Association of Tobacco Outlets (NATO) President Bob Roberts, owner of Smoke Em Inc. Tobacco stores, in opposition of the proposal.

APMA is engaging with a group of stakeholders to oppose the effort. It is unclear when the proposal will be considered. No language has been introduced so far. The next Phoenix City Council Meeting is September 16, but the flavor ban is not yet on the agenda for that session.
