UST Reforms Bill Passes Arizona House, Headed to Senate

On Monday, March 11, the UST Reforms Bill (HB2704) passed the Arizona House of Representatives by a party line vote 31-29.

Unfortunately, party politics took front and center instead of the substantive issues.

Representative Kristen Engel (D) offered a floor amendment to strip out the bill a provision allowing payment of equity claims for cost incurred outside of preapproval. When Engel’s amendment failed, House Democrats voted against HB2704 in its entirety despite their commitments to support the bill.

Thanks to the support of Speaker of the House Rusty Bowers (R), we are now through the House. The bill is assigned to the Natural Resources and Energy Committee in the Senate. Once it passess Committee, it will go to the Senate floor and then to the Governor’s office before it becomes law.
