ADOT Releases NEVI Request for Proposals
Through the federal Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill, the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program made $5 billion available for the deployment of publicly accessible EV chargers nationwide. Arizona is expecting to receive $76.5 Million in federal dollars through the program over five years.

ADOT was required to adhere to strict federal guidance to qualify for the NEVI funding and plan for the RFP. Preliminary steps included development of an Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Deployment Plan in 2022, and an Update in 2023.

The Plan required ADOT to identify initial Alternative Fuel Corridors (AFCs) for the deployment of the first phase of chargers. The initial AFCs in Arizona are along the state’s interstate highway system. The state has identified 21 locations around Arizona where EV charging stations can be installed that meet federal requirements, approximately every 50 miles along the interstate system.

Proposals will be due by April 19, 2024 at 2 pm MST.
