Industry News for May 12, 2016
The Arizona Legislature adjourned sine die, ending this year’s regular session, on Saturday May 7 at 5:45 am. After passing a $9.6 Billion budget, the Capitol was a whirlwind of activity before the close of session. Over 200 bills are now awaiting action by Governor Ducey.
APMA’s top legislative priorities were the equalization of the diesel tax and protection of UST program funds. The diesel tax issue is headed into a study committee over the summer months, with the goal of successful legislation next session. UST funds were not swept in the budget for the upcoming fiscal year. APMA has an agreement with ADEQ leadership that not less than $35 Million will be paid out for time barred claims in early 2017 and not more than $3 Million will be spent on administering the program in the 2016-17 fiscal year.
APMA is creating a full Legislative Wrap Up document, along with issue briefs on specific bills that impact members. Stay tuned!
