This week, the FDA released a notice that extends compliance and enforcement of the menu labeling rule until May 7, 2018. FDA enforcement of the menu labeling rule was expected to begin on May 5, 2017. The delay is good news for convenience store owners as it allows more time for Congress or the Administration to correct the onerous requirements.
In the interim rule, FDA explains the delay “enable[s] us to consider how we might further reduce the regulatory burden or increase flexibility while continuing to achieve our regulatory objectives, in keeping with the Administration’s policies.” The delay of the rule is consistent with the executive orders that the President has released that are designed to reduce regulatory burdens.

APMA Scholarship Foundation Awards $52,000 in Scholarships
The Arizona Petroleum Marketers Association is thrilled to announce that the APMA Scholarship Foundation (“the Foundation”) has made its 2017 scholarship awards to eleven students worth $52,000 if eligibility requirements are satisfied.
“That is significantly more than what some national petroleum associations are giving out in scholarship dollars,” said Foundation President Dave Alexander of Caljet. “We are pleased to be able to provide financial assistance to worthy students investing in their futures.”
Since its inception in 2007, the APMA Scholarship Foundation has paid out over $250,000 in scholarship awards.
2017 marks a milestone anniversary for APMA – the association started 50 years ago. In 1967, a group of oil jobbers sought to improve their businesses and their industry by coming together. Today, more than 125 member companies support APMA.
Those who have been around the industry throughout that time have seen and survived enormous change.
In the upcoming year, stay tuned for some glimpses down memory lane from APMA member companies. If you have photographs or other memories to share, please contact Amanda.
