$52,000 in Scholarships AGAIN from the APMA Scholarship Foundation
The Arizona Petroleum Marketers Association is pleased to announce that the APMA Scholarship Foundation (“the Foundation”) has made its 2018 scholarship awards to eight students worth $52,000 if eligibility requirements are satisfied.

 

“We are giving out one thousand dollars in scholarships – every week – for the year,” said Foundation President Dave Alexander of Caljet. “We are glad to be able to provide financial assistance to worthy students investing in their futures.”

 

This is the second year running that APMA has awarded $52,000. Since its inception in 2007, the Foundation has paid out over $300,000 in scholarship awards.

 

Grace Calvert from Buckeye, Arizona was named the Ann Champlin Memorial winner, the top honor bestowed by the Foundation. Ann was the beloved wife of Bill Champlin, APMA’s Vice President Emeritus, who passed away in 2017. Grace’s father John Calvert has worked for Calvert Oil as a mechanic for 40 years.

–         Vivianne Benbrook, Arizona Fuel Distributors – Goodyear, AZ

–         Alexandra Burden, Cochise Companies – Phoenix, AZ

–         Cierra Cureton, Circle K Stores – Maricopa, AZ

–         Jacob Dobrenz, Senergy Petroleum – Chandler, AZ

–         Tatum Little, Quik Mart Stores – Tucson, AZ

–         Madison Melia, Pioneer Distributing – Gilbert, AZ

–         Travis Seideman, Senergy Petroleum – Phoenix, AZ

 

Applicants participated in a rigorous application and interview process before being selected for awards varying from $5,000 per semester to $1,000 per semester. To maintain their eligibility, awardees must sustain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.

 

Scholarships are available for employees who are working on a degree to advance in their company as well as high school seniors, college undergraduates or graduate students. Any accredited post-secondary program, including trade schools, will qualify.

 

The Foundation is revamping its scholarship application forms for the 2019 scholarship year. Updated forms will be available shortly online.

 

Every year, APMA hosts the Scholarship Golf Tournament which is the single biggest fundraiser for the Foundation. This year was the 20th annual outing at McCormick Ranch Golf Club on Friday, April 27. Dates and location have not yet been set for 2019 Tournament.
